A PUBLIC meeting called by residents of Thornbury is likely to take place in the New Year, say town councillors.

Residents have called for the meeting, following concerns over plans to either relocate the Armstrong Hall and library to Turnberrie’s Community Centre or refurbish the hall,.

Both sets of proposals likely to cost several million pounds, with residents calling for more information on where the money will come from, and if the move to Turnberrie’s goes ahead, what the ownership status will be.

At Thornbury Town Council’s full council meeting on Tuesday, town clerk Clare Nelmes said that there had been a significant number of responses to the public consultation, which ended last Friday, and are likely to take some time to be properly analysed.

The calls for further information from residents has resulted in the town council agreeing to postpone its decision on moving the Armstrong Hall from its original date, October 19, until after the meeting, which is likely to take place around mid-January.

It is thought that SGC’s decision regarding Thornbury Library is still going to be made by November 6.
