THE HUNT is on for a new town clerk in Thornbury, following the resignation of current clerk Clare Nelmes, who is set to leave in the spring.
Mrs Nelmes, who leaves the post after nearly two years working for the council, is departing to go travelling, and said that leaving was a tough choice to make.
“Leaving was not a decision I have taken lightly,” she said, “but this is a once in a lifetime opportunity to follow my dreams and explore the world.
“I have absolutely loved my time here in Thornbury, the job is so varied, and you never quite know how your day will pan out.
“I get to work with some great people and groups and make a real difference to the community, leading on a number of the council’s key projects.
“There is still more I can do over the next few months before I depart and I look forward to welcoming my replacement to the town council.”
If you think you have what it takes to become the new town clerk, details of the job are available from the Town Council website: www.thornburytowncouncil.org/pdf/TC-Application-pack.pdf
