APPLICATIONS have been submitted to convert a historic business premises in Thornbury to five apartments.

Park House, a listed building located behind the Mezze at the White Lion, was built in 1821 as a stately home but has, for a number of years, been used by a number of businesses, most recently as the European headquarters of the firm Yankee Candle.

The application put forward by Robert Benson of the Bush Consultancy Ltd to demolish the existing store, the erection of a single storey extension and installation of external staircase to basement, to facilitate conversion the existing offices to form five apartments.

The planning application references are PT17/4266/F, for full planning consent and PT17/4267/LB for listed building consent.

Having discussed the applications at their full council meeting on Tuesday, Thornbury Town Council said they would object to the loss of the business premises in Thornbury and that, as a listed building in the conservation area of the town, they wanted to see the historic features of the building be preserved.
