A CYCLIST was left seriously injured after riding into a stationary van near Dursley.

Police were called just after 9am today following reports of a collision between a cyclist and a stationary vehicle.

The incident happened on the B4060 at Stancombe, Dursley.

A 40-year-old male cyclist, travelling towards North Nibley, hit the rear of a stationary Western Power Distribution van.

The man sustained various fractures and was taken by ambulance to Southmead Hospital in Bristol.

His condition, although serious, is not life threatening.

The road was closed while emergency services were at the scene.

It was reopened at around 4pm.

Police would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision who has not already spoken to the police.
