IN the wake of ex-hurricane Ophelia, the Met Office has confirmed that a further storm - set to be called Brian - is on course for the UK.
A new weather system is heading towards Britain and is forecast to go through an “explosive” development as it passes over ocean waters.
Forecasters are closely monitoring the storm which is set to hit Britain early Saturday morning.
If it does develop into a storm, it will be called Brian.
A Met Office spokesperson predicted that some areas could lose power and traffic will be delayed.
"A spell of strong southwesterly winds is expected," a spokesman said.
"Some coastal routes and communities are likely to be affected by large waves, with potential for flooding of properties.
"Some transport disruption is likely across the warning area, with delays to road, rail, air and ferry transport.
"Short term loss of power and other services is also possible."
In the south west the Met Office has issued a yellow wind warning for Saturday, which stretches from 4am up until midnight.
Winds are forecast to reach 52 mph through Gloucestershire and South Gloucestershire.
