PROPOSED changes to South Gloucestershire’s parliamentary constituencies have been published this week.
The new boundaries are designed to be in place ahead of the next scheduled general election in 2022.
Published on Tuesday, October 17, the changes would see a reduction in the overall number of constituencies in the UK from 650 to 600.
The move was approved in Parliament in 2011, as a cost-saving measure in the aftermath of the expenses scandal.
If approved, Thornbury and Yate will see several changes.
Frampton Cotterell and Boyd Valley wards would be removed from the constituency, and Cam and Dursley would be added to it. A new name - Dursley, Thornbury and Yate - has been suggested.
From this week, people can go to the BCE’s website, bce2018.org.uk, to view the new plans. All the public comments received during the first two consultations are also published on the website.
People have until December 11 to have their say.
