AVON and Somerset Constabulary are thanking a witness whose call led to an arrest and the recovery of stolen property in Hanham.
Officers were called to Hunters Road, Hanham, at about 1.30am yesterday, Tuesday, after a witness reported three men getting out of a car and behaving suspiciously around people’s homes.
Police searched the area, finding a similar vehicle abandoned in Bank Road, Kingswood.
The car contained tools which are believed to have been stolen from a van in Warmley at around 12.30am yesterday. A teenage boy was arrested in Church Road, Kingswood, at 2.30am, on suspicion of burglary. He was later released under investigation.
Neighbourhood Sergeant Steve Davey said: “Communities who look out for one another and report suspicious incidents are a real deterrent for thieves – it’s why Neighbourhood Watch works so well.
Police would like to warn people that if you see someone acting suspiciously around a neighbour’s property, call straight away.
If they’re obviously breaking in, ring 999. Otherwise, call the non-emergency number 101: operators are on hand 24/7.
