GIRLS interested in joining a Dursley football club are being invited to join its training session tomorrow free of charge as part of the FA Girls’ Football Week.

Running throughout this week, the scheme is part of the Football Association’s efforts to encourage more girls into the sport.

Dursley Town Girls’ Football Club is inviting anyone who wants to give football a try to its training sessions free of charge tomorrow at Rednock School’s all-weather pitch.

No experience is needed and the training sessions are held as follows:

  • Under-8 development team (school years 1 to 3) 5 to 6pm
  • Under-10s (school years 4 and 5) 6 to 7.30pm
  • Under-12s (school years 6 and 7) 6 to 7.30pm
  • Under-14s (school years 8 and 9) 6 to 7.30pm

The club is sister to the Bristol City Ladies’ team and its players regularly hold sessions with the club.

Dursley Town Girls’ Football Club was founded in 2000 by Ellen Kent and Steve Ash from the remnants of the Cam Bulldogs team and has now been playing in the Gloucester County Girls’ league, which it helped found, for more than 10 years.
