A 27-YEAR-OLD man has been jailed after admitting a burglary at a house in Chipping Sodbury.

Daniel O’Driscoll, of no fixed abode, appeared at Bristol Crown Court yesterday, admitting to stealing handbags during the walk-in, daytime burglary of a home in Horse Street on Monday, June 26.

After pleading guilty, he was handed a sentence of three years and four months in jail.

Police have offered residents advice on keeping their homes secure.

This includes locking up and setting the alarm at night as well as when going out, making sure doors and windows are secure, and never leaving keys in the back of the door or window, keeping all valuables safely out of sight.

Officers have also recommended residents to join their local Neighbourhood Watch group and advised any residents who see someone acting suspiciously around a neighbour’s property, to call police straight away.

If they are obviously breaking in, ring 999. Otherwise, call the non-emergency number 101.
