WHEN his plans to watch a film were dashed, Yate teenager Lewis Clarke could never have foreseen that missing Kingsman would give him the opportunity to save his father’s life.
The Chipping Sodbury School pupil went home and turned lifesaver after finding his dad Geoff had suffered a stroke.
If it wasn’t for his quick intervention, the 53-year-old would be dead.
How fantastic to hear of the youngster’s speedy reactions and cool head.
Lewis is an inspiration and should be incredibly proud of his achievement.
Geoff and Lewis’ experience highlights the importance of arming youngsters, and indeed everyone, with the knowledge of what to do in circumstances such as these.
Geoff has remarked that children should be taught about calling 999 from the earliest age possible.
Learning first aid is incredibly important too.
First aid training is not currently a statutory part of the school curriculum, but as it can mean the difference between life and death, it surely should be.
