HUNDREDS of people gathered in the centre of Dursley this evening to see the annual switch-on of the town's Christmas lights.
BBC Radio Gloucestershire presenter Mark Cummings was invited to turn on the lights this year.
The town was busy with festive entertainment and activities, as stalls and a fairground filled the streets for the public to enjoy from 4.30pm onwards.
The crowds also enjoyed a firework display.
A choir from Dursley Primary School performed six songs from 4.45pm, with Rednock School band The Lost, singer Lizzie Lindsell and Cheltenham-based Last Orders providing further musical entertainment through the course of the evening.
Punch and Judy shows were also be held in Parsonage Street with the annual children’s lantern parade with Father Christmas starting from the market place at 5.45pm.
A funfair is also being held tonight in the Castle Street car park, until 1pm.
