CAMPAIGNERS in Wickwar are urging residents to object to proposals to double the size of new housing in the village.
Outline planning permission has already been granted for a 90 dwelling development at a site on Pincots Lane.
But now a second application for a further 90 houses has also been put forward, on land south of Horwood Lane, which just across the road from the first site.
Both applications have been put through by Gladman Developments.
One of the main concerns is the lack of supporting infrastructure in the area, such as roads, schools, public transport, shops and amenities.
The fact that Wickwar is not identified in the agreed West of England Joint Spatial Plan, which identifies suitable and sustainable development sites, is also a reason why the plans should be rejected, say campaigners.
Objectors only have until Thursday, this week, to register their concerns.
Cllr Pat Trull is now collating villagers’ comments, whish she will be submitting to the planning department by the end of the month deadline.
She can be contacted on 01454 299120 or via email: trull@btinternet.com
