COUNCILLORS on the SDC strategy and resources committee have voted in a new motion that will ensure that the Sub Rooms will remain in public hands.
The task and finish had been due to present their recommendation to the committee that the Subs be sold to Ecotricity for £300k.
However, after nearly three hours of deliberations, discussions and heated debate the councillors on the strategy and resources committee voted in a new motion that would see bids considered for the building on a maximum 30 year leasehold.
Votes were initially drawn with five councillors voting in favour of the new motion, and five against.
The chair of the committe, Cllr Doina Cornell was given the deciding vote bringing the final total to six in favour of the motion.
