THE primary school in North Nibley has been praised by an Ofsted inspector who visited at the end of October.

Despite remaining at the same ‘good’ overall rating as its 2014 inspection, work to improve subject leadership at North Nibley Primary School was deemed to have been improved and the increase in after-school activities, to about 10 in a normal week, was singled out as a highlight.

According to the inspector, the work of governors “continues to be a strength” with them able to challenge the school’s leaders.

Strong relationships between teachers and pupils are also identified by the inspector, which he says “results in engagement and enthusiasm in learning”.

Head teacher Paul Batchelor said: “The report is a really important validation of the work we’ve all been doing at the school.

“I’m delighted that the hard work of our staff and pupils was recognised.

“Our PE and sports provision has always been outstanding and we are delighted that more and more children are taking up our after-school activities.”

One area for improvement identified by the inspector was in the development of pupils’ writing.

Mr Batchelor said it was an area they were working on with a new programme introduced last year to improve teaching.
