A CYCLIST threatened a 53-year-old grandfather with a knife on Yate Common on December 19.
The man was walking with his eight-year-old grandson and dog at the time.
They moved over to the side of a cycle track to allow the cyclist go past.
The grandfather said: "You're welcome", at which point the cyclist became abusive and produced a knife, which he did not actually use.
The incident happened at around 11.30am.
A spokesman for Avon and Somerset Police said: "Our investigations into this incident are ongoing.
"Anyone with relevant information should call 101, quoting ref: 5217289050."
