AFTER several possible sightings of two elderly dogs who have been missing for over a week, a Facebook group has been set up to help coordinate searches in the area.

The dogs, a black cocker spaniel and a deaf golden rough haired long legged terrier, escaped from their owners' garden in Nympsfield on December 24.

However after a huge appeal to over 25,000 Facebook users Jo Dalton, their owner, remains hopeful that the hounds may still be found.

"The glimmer of hope every evening that Monty and Roxy might be sat waiting in the porch on our return home followed by the overwhelming sadness that they will spend yet another night cold wet and hungry is indescribably crushing," said their devastated owner Jo.

Searchers have been combing the woodlands surrounding the dogs' home including areas around Stinchcombe, Woodchester and Selsley but despite a number of people coming forward, the dogs are yet to be reunited with their owner.

Today's search began at 10.30am at Coaley Peak picnic site car park, and walkers enjoying a traditional New Year's Day ramble around the valleys are being asked to keep their eyes peeled for the terrier and spaniel.

Anyone can find out how to join the search for the dogs, or report possible sightings via the social media group Missing Dogs: Monty and Roxy GL10

A message on the Facebook group from Jo thanked everyone who had taken part in the extensive hunt so far: "Thank you so much once again for everybody’s support and kindness, we can’t express how humbled and grateful we are."
