FOSTER carers from every background are needed for children in South Gloucestershire.
As part of a drive to seek out new carers who could make a real difference to young people's lives, South Gloucestershire Council is hosting an information evening in Yate on Thursday, January 18.
At the event, experienced foster carers will be highlighting the rewards of taking on the role, and sharing their passion for fostering, while social workers will also be on hand to answer any questions.
“Being a foster carer can be a challenge but it is also immensely rewarding," said Cllr Jon Hunt, SGC cabinet member responsible for children and young people.
"You won’t be on your own, we are with you every step of the way to help with support, guidance and training and weekly payments are also provided towards the care, support and attention that a child needs.
"There are many myths surrounding who can be a foster carer such as having to ‘be married’, ‘own your home’ or ‘have experience’, meaning that many people rule themselves out as possible foster carers unnecessarily."
Anyone interested in fostering is invited to the information evening at Costa Coffee, Yate Shopping Centre, from 7pm to 9pm.
