A MAN sustained a fractured jaw after an unknown offender assaulted him in Cheltenham town centre in the early hours of Sunday, January 7.

The 20-year-old victim was punched several times, between 12.30am and 1am,  in the alleyway which runs between Rodney Road and Cambray Court/Place.

Officers believe the offender may have also assaulted a second unidentified man who was wearing a black Adidas top which had red stripes down the sleeves.

The offender was a white man aged in his mid-twenties, around 5ft 8ins to 5ft 9ins tall, of a slim build, clean shaven and had short, light brown hair. He was wearing a blue top and may have been wearing a grey hooded top before removing it.

The area was busy at the time of the incident and officers are appealing for any witnesses who have not yet spoken to police to get in contact.

Anyone who witnessed these unprovoked assaults, or who knows the second unidentified victim, is asked to contact police by calling 101 or email 101@gloucestershire.police.uk and quote incident 20 of 7 January.

The victim, who is from Cheltenham, is now recovering at home following surgery.
