A SAILING club based in Oldbury is set for an upgrade thanks to a £1,500 donation from a housing developer.

The funding for Thornbury Sailing Club, based on the banks of the River Severn, were presented by Park Farm developers David Wilson Homes, and are aimed to help improvements at the club, and could go towards the club’s rolling programme of clubhouse maintenance or even the purchase of new equipment for those learning to sail.

Louise Ware, sales director at David Wilson Homes, said: “Thornbury Sailing Club does a fantastic job helping people to enjoy the thrill of sailing and we’re particularly proud of its work in the community getting more young people out on the water.

“It’s our pleasure to be able to support our neighbours as we work to bring quality new homes to the area.”

Rob Hudson, a member of Thornbury Sailing Club, added: “We’re thrilled with the donation from David Wilson Homes.

“Usually we have to fund our projects from membership fees so this will allow us to free up that money for even more improvements to the club in 2018.”
