A busy roundabout was closed after hundreds of cartons of milk spilled out of a Hereford dairy lorry.

The spillage happened on the A40 roundabout at Over in Gloucester, which was partially blocked for several hours.

Pictures posted on social media by Gloucestershire Police and Herefordshire firefighters showed scattered crates and milk running over the road.

Emergency services saw the lighter side.

One officer joked that police clearing the spill seemed to be "lapping it up".

It has "crated" a lot of problems, quipped another.

The lorry was from Bartonsham Farm Dairies, based in Green Street, Hereford.

There were no reported injuries.
