IT IS a sad world we live in when promises mean different things to different people, even though they should be taken at face value.
And yet it appears that this is again the case with the revolving door of plans for redeveloping Thornbury’s hospital and health centre facilities, with some welcoming the news, but others, weathered on decades of disappointment, remaining cautious that these again may be empty promises.
But while the new proposals look fairly comprehensive in the conviction of their presentation, this was exactly what happened two-and-a-half years ago when it was full steam ahead on brand new buildings and rehab beds for both Thornbury and Frenchay.
What this saga needs is a happy ending, where the people have access to the facilities they need and no longer have to wait weeks for an appointment.
Time will tell whether this time, we will see progress, but either way, it won’t be conclusive until brick meets mortar and patients are welcomed in.
