THE STROUDWATER Textile Trust is opening the Dunkirk Mill Museum and the weaving shed at Gigg Mill for the summer season.

The weaving shed will open Saturday, April 21 and the mill opens on both Saturday, April 21 and Sunday, April 22.

To visit the weaving shed go to Gigg Mill between 10am and noon or alternatively, come to Dunkirk Mill Museum between 2pm and 4pm.

Visitors can see a massive working water wheel powering a rare piece of historic textile machinery.

Entry prices remain the same for both locations with adult tickets at £3 or £1.50 for pupils aged 8 or above and children go free.

Schools and groups have been invited to book their own sessions.

Additionally, there is a special opening of both mills on May 12 and 13 for an open weekend.

Entry is free, and they are open from 11am to 6pm.

At Dunkirk throughout May until the 20th there will be a rare opportunity to see paddles from a possibly Anglo-Saxon waterwheel.

These were found in the river above Egypt Mill and are normally stored at the Museum in the Park.
