SEVERAL houses in South Gloucestershire were struck by lightning in last night's thunderstorm.

Fire crews were called out to Blackhorse Road in Mangotsfield at around 9pm yesterday, following reports of several lightning strikes.

Two crews from Kingswood and one from Temple Back attended the scene and checked the properties for any fire spread or damage.

Although none of the properties were affected by fire, a number were experiencing issues with their TV points due to being struck by lightning.

A spokesman from Avon Fire and Rescue said: “None of the properties had been affected by fire.

“However we did assist in making safe and reassuring residents after some of the electrics had been affected and TV points damaged by electrical conduction.”
