WINNERS of a children’s Easter competition in Thornbury have been announced.

The Thornbunny Trail encouraged young members of the community to hunt in shop windows across the town for small knitted rabbits that had become separated from their parents.

More than 50 children took part in the hunt throughout the fortnight, with the winners having their names pulled from a hat.

The event was clearly enjoyed by all who took part, with one of the comments on an entry form saying: “I have met lots of friends and found places in Thornbury I didn’t know existed and found items in shops I didn’t know they stocked”.

Taking the top prize of a £25 Thornbury voucher and Thornbury notebook was Lily Gainer from Dursley.

Second place was Matthew Davies from Rangeworthy who won a luxury Belgian chocolate Easter egg from Papilio at Heritage.

Other prize winners included Oliver Hall and Claire Stephens, who won Lindt bunnies and Harry Sayce and Anya Beaugie who won Cadburys goody bags.

A Thornbury Chamber of Commerce spokeswoman said: “It was lovely to see a whole range of generations taking part in the Thornbunny Trail over the two weeks, exploring the town.

“The results of the prize draw entries show people from outside the Town also took part, and we hope this will encourage them to visit again in the near future and spread the word about what Thornbury has to offer.”
