DESPITE it being the hottest London Marathon on record, more than 40,000 people took part in Sunday's race.
750,000 spectators cheered on the runners who battled the 24 degree Celsius temperatures to complete the 26.2 mile course.
This year's race was Thornbury runner Rachel Murphy's first ever attempt at the full marathon distance, running for the Royal British Legion to thank them for their support after losing her husband in the line of duty.
Another first-timer was Berkeley's Helen Cerullo who was running for the Ectopic Pregnancy Trust, having fundraised for the charity at a number of events this year.
Dursley's Kelly Gabb also represented the region, having raised more than £2,000 for Footsteps Counselling and Care in Gloucester.
