WINTER road gritting in South Gloucestershire may be reduced, as part of council cost cutting.
In response to national austerity measures and a decrease in grant funding from government, South Gloucestershire Council (SGC) has mounted a savings programme.
Included in the plan is a proposal to reduce SGC's fleet of gritters from 11 to nine, and take 30km of roads off the list that are salted when freezing conditions are likely.
Roads which may no longer be gritted include: Claypit Hill, part of Dodington Road, Gibbs Lane and Sodbury Lane; Park lane and Perrinpit Road in Frampton Cotterell, Tormarton Road / Shire Hill / part of Marshfield Road and Ashwicke Road / St Martins Lane, in Marshfield and Tormarton; Old Down Road in Badminton; Siston Lane in Siston/Pucklechurch
SGC is now consulting about which roads should be salted and gritted during icy weather.

The consultation ends on June 18.
There will also be a consultation drop-in session at Yate Outdoor Sports Complex, on May 2, from 3pm to 5pm.
