A HOSPITAL fete has capitalised on the sunshine to raise funds for equipment.
On Saturday, May 12, Vale Community Hospital in Dursley held its annual summer fete on what was one of the sunniest days of the year, raising almost £1,000.
Officially opened by Stroud MP, David Drew, the family fete took place in the grounds of the Vale Hospital on Lister Lane, and was organised by the Vale Community Hospital League of Friends.
The hospital serves an area extending from the Cotswolds, right across Berkeley Vale, with the main role of the League of Friends being to raise funds and encourage support from those who use or may use the hospital services.
The money raised from Saturday’s fete - where people enjoyed children’s rides, a bouncy castle, henna painting, stalls, a tombola and raffle, with entertainment via a steel band – will go to provide new equipment for the hospital, enabling more services to be offered to patients.
Mr Drew said: “I was really pleased to see so many turned up. I know that the team at the fete were overjoyed that there’s so much support for the hospital.”
“It was a packed afternoon and a great sociable atmosphere.”
