A ROAD in Rangeworthy is having its speed limit reviewed.
Residents have welcomed the review of the current speed limit in New Road, from the national speed limit signs to Old Wood Lane.
The road itself is a country lane which is often used by cyclists and dog walkers.
With no pavement provided, and due to its narrow width, there have been growing road safety concerns amongst the community.
The consultation ran from May 2 to June 13 and South Gloucestershire Council is now assessing whether the current 60mph speed limit should be lowered to 30mph, taking residents’ feedback into consideration.
Councillor Marian Gilpin, who represents Rangeworthy village, said: “A number of concerns have been raised about the speed at which motorists have been travelling along this stretch of New Road."
MP Luke Hall said: “Having spoken with members of the local community, I am aware that the national speed limit currently in place has led to several road safety concerns. I am pleased South Gloucestershire Council is taking these concerns seriously and that a consultation was launched accordingly.”
