A 34-YEAR-OLD former drug dealer from Berkeley who forfeited £35,000 of his illegal profits a decade ago has now had to hand over another £15,000 to the authorities.

Glen Driver, of The Brambles, Berkeley, was jailed for three years in 2007 when a court ruled that he had benefited from his crimes to the tune of £65,418.

At that time his available assets were assessed at £35,000 and they were seized from him - but he was warned that if he ever accumulated money in future it could be taken from him as well until lhe had repaid the full amount of his benefit.

On Friday, June 15, Driver was back before Gloucester Crown Court where the prosecution asked for him to be ordered to hand over the balance of £28,000 on the grounds that he has turned his life around and now has assets again.

However, the judge, Recorder Paul Grumbar, decided after hearing defence submissions that Driver would only have to forfeit the £15,000 contents of his Coventry Building Society account and no more.

When Driver was originally sentenced 11 years ago the court was told he was caught with more than £13,000 worth of cocaine in his Berkeley home in September 2006.
