A MAN who fled to Poland after being convicted of a vicious assault on a Yate family has been jailed.

Daniel Pisarski, 23, along with and his brother Adam Pisarski, 24, launched an unprovoked assault on a family walking home from a party in Yate on New Year’s Day 2016.

The attack was carried out in Scott Way at about 2.30am, in front of children.

Daniel Pisarski was charged with one count of grievous bodily harm and one count of actual bodily harm for his part in the incident.

A 40-year-old man and a 37-year-old man suffered serious injuries which needed hospital treatment while a 40-year-old woman was knocked unconscious to the ground.

The pair fled to Poland but were tried and convicted in their absence.

Daniel Pisarski was sentenced to two years and eight months in jail, while Adam Pisarski was jailed for four years and six months, including one month for an additional count of battery.

Daniel was located in Poland and arrested on May 22 by the Polish authorities and extradited to the UK on Friday, June 8.

On Friday, June 15, he appeared at Bristol Crown Court to have his sentenced confirmed by the judge.

He was jailed for an additional six weeks for failing to attend the court.

Detective constable Mark Wilkes said: “This was a vicious unprovoked assault on a family as they walked home from a New Year’s party.

“There were eight children present during the assault, ranging in age from four months old to 14 years old.

"This was an extremely distressing incident for them to witness.

“Daniel Pisarski thought he could evade justice by fleeing the country.

“But this shows we will pursue wanted criminals even beyond our own borders and should act as a warning to others who may think they can escape the law.”
