THE GEORGE HOTEL in Chipping Sodbury has hosted the 5th Grufts, which has been raising money for an animal charity.

NOWZAD is a charity which looks to relieve the suffering of animals that are in Afghanistan, and the event in which dogs are judged in a ‘Crufts’ like format raised over £200 during the course of the day.

Caroline Wilkinson, one of the organisers of the event was very pleased with how the event went. She said “After fighting through rain the past couple of years, we were met by a bigger challenge of heat this year!

“It did mean that we had fewer dogs than previous years but those that attended had fun splashing about in the paddling pools and eating doggy ice cream.

“Despite the smaller crowd, we still managed to raise a fabulous £266.86 for Nowzad, which will really help them with their work. Thank you to everyone who gave so generously.”

The event was funded by businesses in the area, with Retro & Friends, Mrs G's, Martin Stacey Photography, Natural Treats Bristol, Bristol K9 Dog Massage, Barket Place, Bonnie Boos Pet Grooming, and The George Hotel all sponsoring classes at the show.

Other business that donated to the raffle included: To those that donated to the raffle: Koala Kreations, More than Skin Deep, Henry's Oriental, The George Hotel, Business Wonderland, Ruff Shop, Bristol K9 Dog Massage, Bonnie Boos Pet Grooming.

Caroline, who was also one of the judges at the event also wanted to praise the venue of the show for the way in which they greeted the public.

“We want to thank everyone who made the day happen, especially the George Hotel. Another huge congratulations is given to Best in Show Maui. We hope to see you again next year.”
