A STROUD girl is on her way to Cambridge University after achieving an incredible 4 A*s.

Cirencester College pupil and Stroud resident Juliet Biard is on her way to Cambridge University in the Autumn to study Natural Sciences.

Juliet achieved four A*s in Chemistry, Physics, Maths and Further Maths.

10 other pupils at the college from the Stroud area achieved three grade As or above or equivalent.

Those pupils are Meredith Adams (Thomas Keble), Lily Banyard (Thomas Keble), Caroline Brodersen (Thomas Keble), Tansy Caton (Archway), Alice Chandler (Thomas Keble), Erin Linwood (Rednock), Aeryn Morgan (Maidenhill) Isobella Norman (Thomas Keble), Ella Robinson (Stroud High), Freya Souter (Stroud High).

Principal Jim Grant commented: “This is the second year of the increasingly challenging linear A levels and we are proud that Sciences, Maths, English Literature and all Art related subjects show even further improvement on previously strong performances.

"Students have gained 355 grade As and A*s including 96 A*s, 15 in English Literature, 17 in Maths, 12 in Photography and 24 in Sciences.

"These qualifications require hard work across two years and our specialist sixth form teaching to support our students is a huge advantage.

"Amazing results in Archaeology, with 100% pass rate and 14 out of 18 students achieving A* to B and equally impressive World Development statistics with 23 out of 34 gaining A*s or As, are tinged with sadness as these popular subjects are being discontinued this year.

"Professional vocational courses have completely bucked the national downward trend with major success; over 140 students gained triple distinctions and above, which is the equivalent of 3 grade As at A-level many of those students gained triple distinction stars which is the equivalent to gaining three A*s at A-level.

"These are the College’s best ever vocational results, the proportion of Vocational students getting a D* almost doubled with particularly impressive performances in Business, Public Services, Animal Management and Art.”
