A Thornbury pub is holding a fundraising event to support Ezzy's Wish to Walk.

The Swan pub on Thornbury High Street is holding a family beach party from 2pm on Sunday, August 26.

Live music will be performed from Bristol band The Skinny Dippers and there will a karaoke party in the evening.

There will also be a number of competitions and activities for children.

Money raised will go towards four-year old Esme Hodge, who has cerebral palsy. Ezzy received life-changing surgery in America last year but needs funds to support her ongoing rehabilitation.

The beach party is The Swan's latest event supporting Ezzy and in total have so far raised £13,900 for her.

A number of events are held throughout the year with a different organisation supported each month through weekly charity quizzes.

Landlady of The Swan Sandra Davies has agreed to die her hair pink to raise some extra money. When her son Matthew died last year they asked for donations to Ezzy rather than flowers

"Matthew idolised Ezzy, he took a real shine to her. He just thought she was lovely," said Sandra.

Ezzy's mother Angela said: "Sandra has been such a vital part in helping us raise funds. We are so overwhelmed by the support of the community and can’t express how grateful we are for everyone’s continuing support and generosity."

Money raised will go towards Ezzy having specialist therapy in Wales once a month so she can build her strength and improve her walking pattern. This will give her the best chance of training her brain to walk in the correct way for her.

"Ezzy is not just our little girl we feel she is a part of the Thornbury community," added Angela.
