FOOTBALL fever hit Cam last weekend, when nearly one thousand young footballers headed to Jubilee Playing Fields for a special tournament.
Cam Everside Youth Football Club hosted the Severn Valley Youth League event for under eights, nines, tens and 11s, which took place on Saturday and Sunday.
Organiser Andy Colliver said: “There was a superb atmosphere and all the children really enjoyed playing football.
“The rain did come, but not so much that it put people off coming along.”
On Saturday, Hucclecote Hawks won the under nines trophy, with Broadwell scooping the under tens.
And on Sunday, FC Highnam triumphed in the under eights section, with Quedgeley Wanderers Reds taking the under 11s title.
The event featured parking at Rednock School, with park and ride coaches bringing everyone to the pitches.
