Just a couple of weeks ago Yate Town Council formally opened the new Brinhsam Park Play Area.

Enhancements works at the park had been in place after Cllr's had consultation meetings with young people in the area.

It was decided that the play area needed additional equipment that would improve the way in which users are challenged physically.

In a statement referring to the new opening, YTC referenced the patience of the public whilst the park was being improved.

"Thanks to the local residents and park users for being so supportive during the construction phase," It read.

"The Town Council is confident that the play area works will encourage new and existing visitors to use the play area more regularly, especially as the North Yate Development expands."

Councillor John Ford, Chair of Yate Town Council and Mayor of Yate was also at the opening and commented on how the area will see more improvements like this in the future.

"The Brinsham Park play area has been in desperate need of additional equipment for the last 25 years," He said.

"Since being taken over by Yate Town Council, the whole park has benefited. This most welcome addition to the play area is the start of more improvements to come in the not too distant future.

"I would like to offer thanks to the Friends Group who have been very active in the parks improvements".
