THE vivid colours of the Bolivian rainforest and the vital fight to protect it will be brought to Dursley through a photographic exhibition.

Entitled Inherit the Earth, the week-long show opens at Dursley Tabernacle in Parsonage Street on September 23.

The collection has been created by Christian Aid, a charity which has worked in the Amazon for 20 years, helping indigenous people threatened not only by logging, mineral extraction, road building and beef farming, but also by climate change with severe flooding affecting many communities.

The exhibition will show how the charity works with organisations to protect life and seeds from floodwaters and help communities become more sustainable by taking advantage of new eco-technologies, such as solar pumps and ovens.

The images also show how current aid projects not only facilitate the planting wild of cocoa to help safeguard the rainforest, but also help farmers access markets so they can trade more easily and fairly.

The show runs from September 23 to 28, with special public viewings on September 27 and 28, 10am to 4pm, when the doors will be open and Bolivian Fairtrade coffee available.

It can also be viewed during a Soul Café session on September 23 at 7.30pm, aimed at those in their 40s, where themes of sustainability will be explored.

Plus the photos will be on display during the Tab’s Family Café session on September 26, from 10am to 1pm, and then again in the evening from 7.30pm, when an open study session will be held looking at legacy and climate change.
