A new dog training service is celebrating its first successful test results.

Severn Bridges Dog Training was visited by Kennel Club examiner Tracy Robins on Thursday, September 13.

Three handlers received their good citizen bronze award, with another two given their puppy foundation award the day before.

To pass the bronze award the dogs must complete a number of tasks such as returning to the handler when called and staying by the handler even if there is a distraction.

The handler is also required to demonstrate their knowledge of responsibility and care of the dog

Trainer Sheila Bedford offers Kennel Club training up to the gold award.

"Our aim is to have calm, well behaved pets that are a joy to live with.

"Congratulations to our puppies, dogs and handlers and good luck with the silver award," she said.

Sessions are run at Aust Village Hall on Thursday evenings and Friday afternoons and evenings.

Ruth Kitson runs The Severn Bridges Dog Club which meets once a month in the same venue.

The next meeting is on Tuesday, October 16 where there will be a talk on dog first aid as well as tea, cake and socialisation for the dogs. Places need to be booked as there is limited space.

Anyone interested in joining should call Sheila on 01454 419506 or Ruth on 01454 261409.
