A PARTY in the park takes place this Saturday in Yate.

The community music festival is due to shake up Kingsgate Park as a host of bands take to the stage.

The line-up includes eight upbeat singers and bands, all hoping to get the crowd moving and shaking during the third annual festival to be held in the park.

Yate Town Council, which is behind the free event, has released a schedule of the day's entertainment featuring: * 1pm - Sox (rock/pop) * 2pm - Andrew Bazeley (blues) * 2.50pm - St Revolution (rock/pop) * 3.50pm - Andi James (blues/pop/reggie) * 4.40pm - Area51 (rock/pop) * 5.40pm - Tundra (covers band that can perform well known tracks from the Police, Status Quo, Cliff Richard, Dire Straits, Elvis, Beatles, Elton John, Queen, Pink Floyd and Eric Clapton) * 6.40pm - Good Vibrations (Beach Boys tribute band) * 8pm - Jagged (electronic/industrial/rock band) The music extravaganza will also feature children's entertainment including a free bouncy castle, a Punch and Judy show, face painting and the newly-completed tree top play area.

There will also be craft stalls, refreshments and the Kingswood Bus Project will be on site all day, along with the Play Rangers team, to provide activities for children and teenagers.

Around 1,500 people are expected at the park during the day and free parking will be available at King Edmund Community School.
