2023 marks the 50th anniversary of the legendary smash hit musical The Rocky Horror Show, and as far as the energy of last night's showing at the Everyman Theatre in Cheltenham has to go by, it's definitely here to stay! It was two hours of high energy, fabulous costumes and great music!

The Rocky Horror Show is the story of two squeaky clean college kids – Brad and his fiancée Janet. When by a twist of fate, their car breaks down outside a creepy mansion whilst on their way to visit their former college professor, they meet the charismatic Dr Frank’n’Furter. It is an adventure they’ll never forget, filled with fun, frolics, frocks, and frivolity.

Directed by Christopher Luscombe, The Rocky Horror show is the biggest party and features timeless classics, including Sweet Transvestite, Damn it Janet, and of course, the show stopping Time Warp. This show is definitely not for the faint-hearted as innuendoes and jokes are sprinkled humorously throughout the whole show.

Last night Stephen Webb, playing the infamous Dr Frank’n’Furter, was undoubtedly the star of the show and his incredible charisma and stage presence commanded the attention of the audience. He perfectly encapsulated the sexual nature and humour of the mad scientist.

Equally, Richard Meek and Haley Flaherty made the perfect Brad and Janet pair and harmonized together beautifully. The whole cast were amazing at engaging with the audience, especially narrator Jackie Clune who had everyone in stitches with her quick wit and current pop culture references.

The electric energy permeated onto the audience and it was great to see the variety of ages and personalities getting up from their chairs to dance and sing enthusiastically to the iconic Time Warp tune - showing this truly is a timeless musical which can be enjoyed by everyone!

If you want to enjoy a couple of hours of colourful light-hearted escapism this week then get tickets at the Everyman Theatre in Cheltenham before they run out! It is only showing the musical for one week only, between Monday, April 3 and Saturday April 8 so if you want your dose of fantastical craziness then you have to move quick!
