CLOSURES are currently in place along the M5 between junctions 14 (Dursley) and 13 (Stroud) due to two separate collisions involving five vehicles. 

Emergency services are currently responding to the incident along the northbound carriageway. 

One person was seriously injured, and four others are due to be taken to hospital. 

The southbound carriageway was also closed but is now in the process of being reopened, however there will be delays.

Drivers are being urged to avoid the area. 

A police spokesperson said: "Closures are in place on the M5 northbound carriageway between junctions 14 and 13 due to a collision.

"There are delays in the area and motorists are advised to use alternative routes due to the build-up of traffic.

"The southbound carriageway was also closed and has since re-opened, however there will be delays.

"It is understood that there were two separate collisions which involved five vehicles in total between around 3.15pm and 3.25pm today, Tuesday 11 July.

"One person has sustained serious injuries and four others will be taken to hospital to be checked over.

"Police and ambulance services have left the scene however National Highways are still in attendance.

"Anyone who witnessed what took place or has dashcam is asked to contact police online by completing the following form and quoting incident 330 of July 11."
