AVON Fire & Rescue Service has launched a campaign to find on-call firefighters to serve communities in Thornbury and Yate.
An on-call firefighter responds to a range of incidents, from emergency calls, working at open days and carrying out work with their local communities.
The fire service says their firefighters come from all walks of life.
This includes homemakers, shopkeepers, builders, farmers, office workers and directors of companies, together with people who are not currently employed.
A spokesperson said: “Previous experience is not required as full training is provided.
“An on-call firefighter could be called out two or three times a week, for a few hours at a time.
“The on-call hours are based around people’s availability and other commitments.”
On-call fire stations currently recruiting include Thornbury and Yate.
Other stations also looking for firefighters include Bath, Blagdon, Chew Magna, Clevedon, Nailsea, Paulton, Pill, Portishead, Radstock, Weston-super-Mare, Winscombe, and Yatton.
Applications close on Friday, February 2 with training starting in June.
