OLDBURY Power Station has donated more than £30,000 to enable more residents to get out and about.

EnergySolutions, the company that manages Oldbury Power Station, has donated £35,000 to Four Towns and Vale Link Community Transport, which has enabled them to purchase a new fully accessible minibus for community use.

Four Towns and Vale Link Community Transport provides transport in the South Gloucestershire area for people who have difficulty using conventional public transport.

Shirley Holloway, chairman of Four Towns and Vale Link Community Transport, said: "We are absolutely delighted with the donation from EnergySolutions, this is a new bus that is available for members of the local community that live in areas that are disadvantaged in terms of transport. "We are not just a service for the elderly, but provide support to people through our dial-a-ride service with scheduled trips to the hospital, doctors, shopping trips and related community activities."

Joe Lamonby, Oldbury's Site Director, said: "EnergySolutions is a world wide provider of nuclear services and technologies and in 2007 became the management company at Oldbury. "The company were delighted to have the opportunity to support a charity that would benefit the local community, especially those in the rural areas of South Gloucestershire where access to transport can be limited."
