STAFF at an Alveston hotel are celebrating after winning an AA rosette.

The Carriages restaurant, at the Alveston House Hotel, received the award for its high standard of food.

Ben Halliday, head chef, said: "I am delighted to have won an AA rosette. Since joining Alveston House earlier this year I have continued to develop the menus, creating seasonal and exciting dishes for both our a la carte and market menus.

"I’m really pleased that the AA has praised our standard of food, which is testament to the dedication of the restaurant’s team.

"We want to ensure we offer the best quality produce to our guests and give them an excellent dining experience.

"The creation of a herb garden to source our own ingredients is one of the ways we have done this."

To achieve the AA rosette, chefs need to display a mastery of basic techniques and be able to produce dishes of sound quality and clarity of flavours, using good, fresh ingredients.

Julie Camm, owner of Alveston House Hotel, said: "I am thrilled that Carriages has received this prestigious award and I’m proud of all the team at Alveston House Hotel."

Carriages restaurant, which has an equestrian theme, has been renamed after Julie’s carriage driving successes nationally and in Europe.

The restaurant is open to non-residents as well as Alveston House Hotel guests.
