FOOD, gifts and science lectures, there will be something for everyone in Thornbury this Christmas.
Thornbury will be playing host to its third food fair on Castle Street on Saturday, December 6, where more than 40 local producers will be selling their foodstuffs and a craft fair will also be held in the St Mary Centre.
It is hoped the fairs, which are being organised by Thornbury's Chamber of Commerce, will make the town more appealing to shoppers.
Penny Skinner, from Thornbury Chamber of Commerce, said: "We hope that rather than heading for Cabot Circus or the Mall, people will think of coming to Thornbury to do their Christmas shopping.
"The fairs will give people the chance to shop locally and support local farmers and businesses and as we head towards the credit crunch people won't have to worry about travel costs."
As well as the food and craft fairs, Thornbury Catholic Church will be providing refreshments, an art exhibition and sale is being held in The Chantry and a craft fair is being held in the Armstrong Hall in aid of St Peter's Hospice.
Mrs Skinner said: "This is going to be a bit of a town event. There are going to be lots of things for people to look at and buy ready for Christmas.
"Thornbury will be bustling and for those women who don't want to bring their husbands we even have science lectures taking place."
The Christmas Food Fair is being held from 10am to 2pm and will coincide with the gift fair in the St Mary Centre and refreshments in the Catholic Church.
