A NEW beer has been launched by Wickwar Brewing Company in an attempt to help us all swallow the credit crunch.
The firm has unveiled Bankers Draft - the UK’s first credit crunch beer - brewed specifically to give the taste buds a treat in the current times of hardship.
Operations director Mike Flavin said: "Everyone needs cheering up in these difficult times so we’ve launched Bankers Draft, a totally reliable, full-bodied ale that will help raise a smile in the face of the credit crunch.
"Like an old-fashioned bankers’ draft, it’s guaranteed to give 100 per cent satisfaction."
The beer will be sold in pubs supplied by the award-winning Wickwar Brewing Company throughout Gloucestershire, South Gloucestershire and its city centre watering hole in Bristol, the White Lion.
As well as helping out drinkers, the ale will also benefit charity Wooden Spoon which helps underprivileged and physically and mentally disadvantaged children throughout the UK, as the brewery is donating 2p from every pint sold.
"We thought in these times of doom and gloom, it would be great to be able to give something to those that are less fortunate, by selling a reasonably-priced ale to help raise money for charity," added Mr Flavin.
"We hope all adults, including bankers, will enjoy both the humour and the ale."
The new beer is also available from the barrel and in bottles at the brewery’s shop in Wickwar.
