Nibley Music Festival was 'biggest and best yet'

NIBLEY Music Festival fulfilled its promise to be the biggest and best yet, as the third annual event attracted more than 2,000 people - nearly double the number coming through the gates last year.

Even the weather entered into the spirit of the event, with sunshine making an welcome appearance throughout the day.

The team of village volunteers who organised the festival left feeling tired, but pleased and satisfied with the day.

The reaction to the bands was very positive, be it the soulful sounds of The Roseville Band or the infectious rhythm of Baraka and the lively ‘home-grown’ sounds of Gecko.

One of the organisers, Chris Gordon, said: "The crowd really got into the music and showed their appreciation.

"John Otway was as crazy as ever and by the time Moonshot brought the festival to an end with their highly polished ska routine, people were still pleading for more. Revellers left the site having had a full-on experience."

Children were kept entertained with all manner of free activities including the drumming workshop, which went down a treat, and people had a chance to sample a wide variety of food and drink.

Organisers have received numerous messages of appreciation, many from people outside the local area who were amazed that a village like North Nibley could put on such a popular, successful show.

Next year's festival will be held on Saturday, July 3.
