THIS weekend Thornbury residents have the chance to see what their parish church will look like if plans to reorder the 12th century building get the go ahead.
On Saturday, September 19, a special public meeting is being held at St Mary’s Church for people to view plans for the building’s reordering.
The meeting is being held prior to church leaders taking the proposals to the Diocesan Advisory Committee next month.
The Diocesan Advisory Committee is an advisory body with a responsibility to church buildings. The committee is made up of architects and conservationists who advise on plans before they are put before the Diocesan Chancellor, who makes the final decision.
The meeting on Saturday will include computer-generated images of what the church might look like with a mezzanine floor.
Rev David Primrose, vicar for St Mary’s Church, said: "The really positive thing about the meeting on Saturday is that we will be able to show what the building might look like when it’s reordered.
"This meeting will provide an opportunity to listen to people’s responses and concerns."
The meeting is being held at St Mary’s Church on Saturday, September 19 (4pm).
