AS a former Berkeley resident when we decided to get married we were unable to find a house in Berkeley and were more or less forced to seek somewhere else to live.

I hope this does not happen to any other younger people of Berkeley through the selfishness of a few of the present people living there, some of whom were partly to blame for our predicament.

It would be interesting to know how many of these people who are doing all the shouting were actually born in or near Berkeley. I think Berkeley is now the ideal place for these houses, with good road access onto the bypass etc.

There is no need to enter the town when proceeding to wherever one happens to be employed, whether it be Sharpness, Dursley, Thornbury or elsewhere, unlike Sharpness where the roads leave much to be desired and are already overcrowded. More houses there would only add to the problem.

One other point I would like to bring up, as would many of my friends: why, now that the Berkeley power station is closing, is a wind turbine farm not being built on the site, as all the facilities are already in place such as pylons and cables etc. The cost savings for these alone would be tremendous.
