A CLEAR message was sent out by the residents of Kingshill Par, Dursley, this week as they intensified their campaign against proposed development near their street.

They took their protest to Stroud District Council offices to highlight the strength of feeling.

Members of the council's development control committee will now be fully aware of how unwanted the development is.

From concern about how a new development would look alongside the unspoiled 1930s architecture to serious fears about the volume of traffic that would use the park, the residents have valid points.

The campaign has been very well organised so far, which was shown by the decision to stage the protest to coincide with the committee meeting a month in advance of the Kingshill Park application being assessed.

Campaigners have also launched a website and have held fundraising events to help keep the protest at the forefront of people's minds.

Of course, planners and the members of the development control committee have their own agendas to follow. New and improved houses must be built all over the district in the coming years and they have to go somewhere.

But officials are surely not going to be recommending anything without taking into account the huge number of objections from the residents of Kingshill Park?
