SIR - As the new county organiser for the Red Cross open gardens, I am delighted to let readers know that the amount raised this summer by the Gloucestershire gardens was a record £29,097.
We are enormously grateful to everyone who so generously opened their gardens or helped in any way and to all the visitors who supported both them and the British Red Cross.
